RawDrop privacy policy

RawDrop is made by OCTOBER, a design studio in London.

What RawDrop does with your photos. RawDrop reads your photo library to find photos that contain a RAW file. When you choose to send photos, it copies the RAW files to a temporary folder on your phone and hands them to the app you pick in the iOS share sheet, such as Lightroom. The temporary copies are deleted afterwards. RawDrop never deletes or uploads your photos. The one change it can make to your library is the favourite heart, and only when you tap it.

Search. To make your photos searchable, RawDrop looks at each one on your phone using Apple’s built-in Vision framework: what is in the picture, any words written in it, the camera and lens from the file’s own details, and the town nearest to where it was taken, worked out from a list of places that ships inside the app. When Apple Intelligence is turned on, longer searches are read by Apple’s on-device model. None of this leaves your phone.

What RawDrop stores. A list of which photos you have already sent, the search index described above, your last few searches, and a small snapshot for the Home and Lock Screen widgets showing how many photos are waiting, with up to four thumbnails. All of it is stored only on your phone and is removed when you delete the app.

What RawDrop collects. Nothing. RawDrop has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no servers. It does not send any data off your device.

Permissions. RawDrop asks for access to your photo library so it can find RAW files and set favourites when you ask it to. You can change this at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Photos.
